"Peace in the Garden" by Bob Atkinson

"Peace in the Garden"
(c)2010 Bob Atkinson

She looked down
into her open hands
wishing she had been
born without them
for the torture
they had given

he'd said
"it was no big deal"
as he shot into her arm
the chemical which would displace
all her worry about harm

but what he didn't tell her
in his deceptive nature
was that her life was
at an end
and his slave
he would make her

she wasn't a bad girl
was caring for her mom
yet, years of being lonely
had her searching for someone

he had upon her weakness pounced
and taken her by her heart
and worked his way into her soul
for his own selfish lark

now she looked into the vial
that would solve all these problems
and give her freedom back to her
below some grassy garden
