"Honey Production Made Simple" by Bob Atkinson

"Honey Production Made Simple"
(c)2010 Bob Atkinson

Honey Bee Three
took to the air
a course was set
for all of them

yet, some that course
didn't care
they had not mapped
that route through the air

it wasn't their favorite path
they didn't fly so far, so fast
the quota of honey production
wasn't a worry in their deduction

the Queen, she asked them
"please proceed
at the best possible speed"

but since they didn't
carve that route
wasn't their doing
not their fault

now,
there was a working
worker bee
who at the colony
did oversee

she looked at the errant
worker bees
and knew they didn't
the right track proceed

their work this year
wouldn't get done
and this winter
they all would starve

because of those
who took their pride
beyond their duty
and
on their own decided

which way to go,
what path to use
without research,
co-operation
or a plan to do

so the working worker bee
made a plan
for all to see
the errant workers
all were told
to map all
of the most direct routes

they were to study
charts and graphs
and search the books
with sextants and glass

they were to ask
those most in the know
and compare their notes
on which way to go

every one of them
began to contribute
to the new plan
and thus

were together banded

it was their feeling, finally
that their voices were heard
loudly and clearly

the next time
they flew a route
it followed, directly
the very best path

no longer did they

feel estranged

from inclusion

in management's game
