“Bi-Pod”

there are of course fish
who swim in schools
and birds that fly
in flights of flocks
and herds of animals
that can be seen
across savannas
brown and green
prides of lions
schools of blue fin
all of which
swim swiftly with kin
swarms of locusts
blackening the day
and all forms of
other creatures I can't name
but there is no
name for men
who travel together
with the same plan
seems to me
there should be a name
that quickly says
we're in the same game
the whale has it's pod
but floats among
the food it eats
the salmon and cod
we are bipedal
it has been shown
that means two feet
or so I've been told
walking first on the left side
then the right
ten toes on our feet
split in half five and five
so to mankind
I give the name
for flocks of men
all traveling the same
it is a “Bi Pod” of men
we'll denote from now on
unless we all travel in boats
across life's pond
it means two feet in a flock
it means we walk in a school
and talk and talk
giving to others our birdlike quacks
it means we attack
others in groups
for not agreeing
with our narrow views
it means we stand upright my friend
traveling together for the same plan
it means all feel the same
about giving to others
or avoiding the pain of our brothers
you see,
the other animals do
in life what our thoughts
mean to me and you
we travel together
when we sing songs
and pray in church
or play volleyball
we have our great stadiums
to watch the game
television sets
all adjusted the same
in our hearts seeing
our Bi Podic ways
gives comfort to us
if seen as the same
